Meet Dr. Sievert

Dr. Horst Sievert is an internationally renowned interventional cardiologist and vascular medicine expert, serving as Director of the CardioVascular Center Frankfurt and Professor of Internal Medicine/Cardiology at the University of Frankfurt. He also holds active consulting and leadership roles at several major institutions, including Chief Physician at Sankt Katharinen Hospital in Frankfurt and Senior Consultant at St. Josefs-Hospital Wiesbaden. He has also served as Director of the Peripheral Vascular and Cardiac Catheterization Labs and Cardiac Intensive Care Units in multiple hospitals. Internationally, Dr. Sievert was Director of the Peripheral Vascular Laboratory and Structural Heart Defects Program at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and Associate at Washington Cardiology Center. He was Honorary Professor at Anglia Ruskin University, UK, Visiting Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and at Yunnan Hospital Fuwai, Kunming, China. Dr. Sievert has personally performed over 80,000 cardiovascular interventional procedures, many of them highly specialized, including coronary, peripheral, structural, and congenital interventions. He was the first to perform a percutaneous left atrial appendage closure, and among the pioneers of PFO closure, valvuloplasty, PDA closure, TAVR, mitral/tricuspid valve interventions, and acute stroke therapies. He has authored more than 600 scientific articles, 130 book contributions, and delivered over 3,700 invited lectures across the globe. As principal investigator in over 100 first-in-human trials, Dr. Sievert has been instrumental in developing cardiovascular innovations from concept to clinical application. Dr. Sievert is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), and multiple other professional societies. He served on the editorial boards of major journals including JACC, Circulation, EuroIntervention, and Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions. He is the founder and director of many international congresses including CSI, CSI Asia-Pacific, CSI Africa, CSI America, ICCA, LAA Frankfurt and D-HF. Is was and is director of many other international congresses. His numerous honors include the TCT Master Operator Award, ICI Lifetime Achievement Award, and the PICS & AICS Lifetime Achievement Award, Special Contribution Award (China, Beijing) – For pioneering TAVI procedures in China among many others.
